Onboard Guidelines

STRATEGY

ATTACK if weather models and forecasts give a clear and repeatable vision in time and if they are in phase with the global strategy of the concerned area.

If not sure about future weather conditions, adopt a tactic based on opportunity, stay with the other surrounding boats or stay on the classic route.

Do not build a strategic decision based on the other competitors.

In no case, a manoeuvre or the lack of manoeuvre must dictate the strategy.

When not in the lead/leading pack, do not adopt any counter-attack strategy which could increase the risks above the usual limit.

No ‘covering’ strategy if in the lead, unless in the very end of the race.

RYTHME

1st part of race, go full on 100% of the boat/skipper’s potential, and then evaluates the situation when coming into the Indian Ocean.

IN CASE OF DISAGREEMENT

If there’s a situation of disagreement, try to communicate as much as possible to understand the point on which opinions diverge (still respecting the opinion of the other = do not shout), if no compromise can be found: JP decides.

LIFE ONBOARD

Have a debrief everyday in the end of the afternoon, to talk about what’s going well and what’s going wrong, in order to prevent from accumulating…
