TP 52 CAM sjönk
Tydligen gick fören sönder i sjön och hon sjönk på 10 minuter. Valencia Sailing borde ha mer info inom kort. Foto: Nico Martinez/Audi MedCup.
Racing on the final day of the Trofeo le Reina in Valencia in moderate winds today, Sunday, the TP52 CAM of Fernando Leon and Kiko Sanchez is reported to have sunk in 26 metres of water.
Reports from Valencia today confirm that CAM sank during the afternoon racing. Conflicting reports suggest either there was a problem with forestay, or the forestay tension is believed to have opened the bow so that there was a massive ingress of water which could not be stemmed.
The fleet were racing in about 12-14 knots of breeze. Many tenders and RIBS stood by and helped but there was no way of keeping the boat afloat with such volume of water coming in. CAM had her bow section replaced during the winter to re-optimise her performance
