FARR 400 Scandinavian entry – Key West 2013
    14. January 2013

The most northerly boat in the burgeoning Farr 400 is located in Norway. Claus Landmark acquired his boat, hull # 11, in July last year and competed in the major offshore race in the region, Round Gotland Race and later the ORCi Worlds in Finland, with moderate results. SANTA’s performance picked up gradually during the season with a win at the prestigious ORCi race in Germany, and later gaining reasonably good results in the Autumn Cup in Copenhagen. Eager to meet identical boats and close competition, Landmark has decided to bring his new Farr 400 to Florida and Key West.

The team has completely changed since last season and ambitions have geared up for 2013. Jesper Bank (55), who recently helmed both the Swedish and later the German teams (monohulls) in the America’s Cup, will lead a Danish / Norwegian team of experienced individuals. Once added up there are an impressive number of Olympic medals, world championships and Whitbread /Volvo circumnavigations among the Scandinavian Farr 400 crew. The entire crew, except for the tactician are amateurs with a passion for sailing, and Farr 400 One Design racing in particular.

The boat is new to the team and the ‘Scandinavian Vikings’ will desperately need a few good training days in sunny Florida getting to know the boat (and each other) before the fun starts in Key West.
After Key West the preliminary program includes highlights such as FARR 400 OD race in Miami in early March, ORCi Worlds in Italy and Copa del Rey in Spain.
