Nyfiken på… Kurt Arrigo, seglingsfotograf

How did you start with sailing photography?
I used to sail and race a lot and some how sailing photography just felt like the next thing to do.

Which picture are you most satisfied with?
There are a lot of sailing images which i am satisfied with, which all capture a mood or moment. But I am always pushing to get a better one.

Best regatta to shoot?
The Nioularge back in 1993 – conditions where great!

Worst regatta to shoot?
None really, you always learn somthing from all the regatta’s.

Who inspires you (other photographers)?
Carlo I would say is the most inspirational.

What gear do you usually use/favor (camera/lenses)?
I use Nikon’s D2x with 17-55mm f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 300 f2.8, Leica’s when the moment is right and Subal housings for my underwater images.

Any advise for those who want to become a better sailing photograph?
Anticipating your subject is certainly a good thing. Salt water is not your best friend, if you don’t have a good sense of humour keep away from it !

How do you see sailing photography develop in the future?
Digital photography will keep on improving and as long as people keep on sailing and racing there will always be a market for people wanting to see great images….
