Kelt Cognac Yacht Design 12
The deadline is March 30 for our little design challenge, so hurry up if you have a cool design lying around. Here’s a cruiser-racer from Scothand. Enjoy!
Design #12 | CS38
The CS38 is an 11.5 metre cruiser-racer to be built in Scotland and based on the Clyde. It is a true dual purpose design, blending the exciting performance of a purebred racer with a fully fitted interior and all the luxuries required for both daysailing and overnight trips further afield in total comfort. The twin cabin interior provides comfortable accommodation for 4, with saloon berths extending the sleeping space to include the full 7 racing crew.
The twin swept spreader carbon rig merges blistering performance with ultimate simplicity, eliminating the need for running backstays or checks. A choice of 130% and 100% furling headsails and a slab reefing main make this a highly flexible sailplan,
The retractable bowsprit is uniquely capable of canting up to 20′ to either side with the tip raising over 30cm at full cant, gaining many of the advantages of a traditional symmetric setup in a stunningly simple package.
The deck layout is open and spacious to maximise racing performance with a full crew, yet compact enough to be comfortably managed by just one or two for shorthanded cruising and deliveries.
The Harken deck package includes 2-speed electric primary winches with a manual override to avoid any rating hit under IRC and all lines are lead back to the cockpit under the deck, meaning you never have to leave the safety and comfort of the cockpit in rough weather. A pressurised inflatable spray hood provides added shelter while maintaining excellent visibility, and folds neatly away into the cockpit lockers when not required.
Aft of the recessed mainsheet track the cockpit opens up, making full use of the space available with the tiller dropping into a locker in the cockpit sole when not in use. The unique tiller power steering system maintains the feel and excellent handling of a large dinghy but with the extra security provided by the power assist system making helming a pleasure and never a struggle.

Riktigt vacker skapelse.

Ser det inte ut som vilken annan båt som helst? Visst, lite inovativ med peke som är “canting” annars är det ju precis som att öppna Yachting World idag eller för fem år sedan.
När kommer open60-tänket till fritidsbåtar?
