Sweet… Bakewell-White Class 9.50
The intent of this design is to provide an affordable race yacht for Kiwi sailors who want to be able to race competitively but still cruise for short periods with the family.
The concept of the Classe 950 suits this need as it has controls in place to limit cost blow outs and the emphasis on short handed sailing means that the boat can be handled by a limited crew suiting both cruising and the increasingly popular shorthanded racing scene in New Zealand.
Working in conjunction with the builder we are developing the design around a simple building technique that will allow the builder to supply the boat at varying levels of completion, again making the boat more accessible at a lower budget. The interior can be configured a number of ways around the structure to allow varying degrees of fit out from the pure racer to a more dual purpose yacht suited to New Zealand’s mix of racing and cruising requirements.
