2nd International Yacht Forum
Dear Yachtsmen,
please find enclosed the invitation to our 2nd International Yacht Forum on February 12th, 2011. Famous designers and yacht racing specialists as well as respresentatives of national and international yacht racing associations have already confirmed their participation. The Forum includes lectures and discussions on the vision of a worldwide unified rating system, yacht construction, rigging, sails (Gennaker vs. Spinnaker) and safety at sea.
The 2nd International will be surrounded by a programme of attractive events. The programme for the weekend is as follows:
Friday, 11 February 2011, 5:00 pm: Senate Reception in the Hamburg Town Hall, pricegiving for the German Offshore Award. Saturday, 12 February 2011, 9:30 am: International Yacht Forum, Chamber of Commerce of the City of Hamburg, including a discussion on the issue of a “One World Rule” as well as sessions on keel construction, rigging, sails and safety. Saturday, 12 February, 6:00 pm: “Meet the Owners”, owners present their yachts and their 2011 racing programme to potential crew in an open forum. Saturday, 12 February, 7:30 pm: Party with spectacular sailing movies and live music, prizegiving for Baltic IRC, Chamber of Commerce. Sunday, 13 February, 10 am: Breakfast and guided tour at the International Maritime Museum, Hamburg. Please find the detailed programme as well as the online registration form on www.iyfh.org. Please note that timely registration will be necessary as the number of participants will be limited.
The Party on Saturday night will include the prizegiving ceremony for the Baltic IRC Racing Series 2010, where we hope to welcome the overall winner, H.M. King Harald V of Norway.
New at the Forum will be our “Meet the Owners” Meeting in the evening, taking place at 6 p.m.. Interested owners may present their yachts and racing programme for 2011 in the main hall of the Chamber of Commerce. Please send us an e-mail to info@ger-oo.org if you are interested in joining this.
Please be advised that directly after the International Yacht Forum Deutscher Segler Verband (DSV) and Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) will host a Measurers’ Seminar in Kiel (see details). There will be a bus transfer from Hamburg to Kiel on Sunday, 13 February for those who would like to attend both events.
Let us conclude with drawing your attention to a small survey in preparation of the forum. The RORC and the ORC are jointly working for a common future rating formula, and it is our aim to submit an overview about owners views and interests on the occasion of our Forum. Therefore, we are grateful if you could submit your answers to the questionnaire. Your individual answers will of course be treated as confidential.
Always fair winds 2011!
