American Sailors
The pilot episode of American Sailors – a proposed series show subsequently sold to The WGN America Network. They air is yearly to coincide with the Chicago to Mackinac Sailing Race. This hour-long (51 mins without commercials inserted) was shot the year of the 100th race and focuses on four boats from the DeVos Family owned Windquest with it’s professional captain and crew down to the tiny Souviner owned and operated by a local school teacher and his friends. In this project I was able to have a varied role in that I did pre-production planning (as part of a team of people), shot some video, assisted with lighting and sound and did a lot of the video ingest into the computer system while logging the vast amounts of video that we had to find the best stuff. During shooting I was field producer on a Coast Guard Cutter at the start of the race and then took my crew out on a chase boat in the Manitou Passage – getting a lot of the most beautiful shots of all four of our boats. Great project and I am proud to have been a part of it! NOTE: This is a very small files size to get it all in.
