Lyckades ju knäppa lite bilder på ORCi-EM i somras. En av dessa pryder Albatross-annonsen i senaste segling. Kul.

AN ITALIAN TRIUMPH IN THE X-35 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
There was a fresh breeze and clear skies at Cala Galera for the last day of racing of the X-35 World Championship, organized by the Yacht Club Italiano and the Circolo Nautico e della Vela dell’Argentario in partnership with Rolex.
The fleet of competitors cast off from the quays of Cala Galera and headed out to sea at 10.30. The excellent weather conditions, with an east-northeasterly wind of between 16 and 18 knots and swell waves permitted a closely fought first heat that started at 11.15.
The race was dominated by three boats that finished well ahead of the rest of the fleet: Mike Richmond and his British crew in Cool Runnings crossed the line first, ahead of Celox skippered by Achim Griese of Germany (silver medallist in the Star class at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984) and by Raimondo Cappa’s Sberressa with Francesco De Angelis and Lars Borgstrom aboard.
The wind dropped slightly, settling at around 12-14 knots for the second race of the day that got underway just after 13.00. It was won by the Dutch crew aboard Nicholas Bol’s Quantum Racing Holland, followed by Alberto Signorini’s L’Irascibile with Tommaso Chieffi calling the tactics and by Pietro Nicolini’s Ave Maria.
At the end of the ten races held from Wednesday 24 September through to today Saturday 27 September, Alberto Signorini’s L’Irascibile was crowned X-35 World Champion 2008.

One of yachting’s greatest challenges, The South Atlantic Race (formerly the Cape-to-Rio) kicked of at the 4th of January 2006. In past years the event has been from Cape Town between Rio de Janeiro as well as Punta del Esta, Uruguay, but in the true spirit of exploration and adventure, a new destination had been chosen for the 11th race for the South Atlantic Trophy: Salvador the Bahia, Brazil.
With 15 yachts in the IRC fleet, “Windsong”, the G-Force X-Treme 37, sailed from Cape Town to Salvador the Bahia, covering 3.423 nm in 16 days, 2 hours, 46 minutes and 36 seconds with an average speed of 8.80 kts and a maximum surfing speed measured of 26.70 kts!
Results: Winner of the South Atlantic Trophy, taking line honours and 1st place in the IRC ranking.
Rules in ocean racing seems to change. The G-Force X-Treme 37 proved that old sayings like “Line honours are for the rich and handicap is for the poor” are history, beating yachts much bigger in size!
The G-Force X-Treme 37: Used by the South African America’s Cup outfit Shosholoza and the winner of the Heineken Cape to Bahia 2006. Do we need to say more…?

THE CONCEPT
G-Force Yachts introduces the G-Force X-Treme 37 – a super fast, carbon fibre, hi-tech racing yacht especially designed for high performance racing. This 37-foot, one-design, racing yacht has an IRC rating that makes it super-competitive in any international fleet. Amongst the first production boats of its kind, this extraordinary performer is built using technology previously only used for one-off custom boats. This ground breaking methodology results in a powerful, super-fast, one design race yacht, with uncompromising up and downwind capabilities. The yacht is designed for maximum thrills and excitement while remaining simple to sail, in both inshore and ocean racing events. With a carbon interior, carbon spars and without running backstays, this boat is at the cutting edge of performance racing!
Although only 37 feet in length, weighing only 3550 kilograms and with a ballast ratio of close to 60%, this racing yacht holds her own against the best. Being smaller in size, the yacht is both economical and affordable, yet is proven to be on the winner’s podium at all the International racing events, be it in round-the-bouys or ocean racing.
The G-Force X-Treme 37 was built for speed and simplicity. She is built entirely in carbon and is considered to be one of the most technically advanced production boats ever built. All conform the latest technical specifications and standard features of a modern high-tech production boat.
THE DESIGN
Designed by the world-famous yacht-design partnership of John Reichel and Jim Pugh, the G-Force X-Treme 37 has been designed to the most exacting standards to be powerful and fast both upwind and downwind.Brief to the Reichel-Pugh design team was that the yacht be not only robust and long lasting, but also really simple to sail. Hence, the yacht is totally uncompromising in terms of fun, thrills and excitement. This 37-foot Production Fixed Keel Racer, 37, is built entirely in carbon, including the mast, boom and spinnaker pole and even the interior, while state-of-the-art specifications have demanded that only the highest quality and most exotic materials available have been used throughout.
With close to a 60% ballast ratio, the yacht will surf at speeds in excess of 25 knots. There are no running back stays and no overlapping headsails. The deck layout is standardised and streamlined to a degree of such supreme simplicity that it will be an absolute pleasure to step aboard and cast off. The design also allows for easy interior layout conversion for either day sailing or ocean races.
The result is a very powerful, super-fast racing yacht, downwind and upwind – ideal for both inshore and trans-ocean racing events.
With an IRC rating of 1.175, this racing yacht competes at the highest level in International IRC regattas.
