E3 har fortfarande kölproblem?
I olika sammanhang har det spekulerats kring Ericssons köl (är den “homogen” eller inte). Nu vill man segla utan att ha alla papper klara.
Dramatik, eller bara formalia?
Många menar ju att Juan K är en kille som tar alldeles för lätt på vad som står i olika regler, och han har ju ritat ett antal båtar som inte fått segla i olika sammanhang.
APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION FOR ERICSSON 3 TO RACE
TO: The Chairman, Volvo Ocean Race Jury
DATE: 23rd September 2008This Application is made under Notice of Race 5.1(g) as contained in Amendment 9.
The Organising Authority (“OA”) hereby applies for permission for the boat Ericsson 3 (“E3”) to race notwithstanding the fact that the boat will not have a valid VO70 (Version 2) certificate at the start of the In Port Race in Alicante on 4th October 2008. Permission is sought for the Boat to race in the Alicante In Port Race and in such subsequent Legs and In Port Races as the Jury may decide.
Attached is the relevant Report by the Rule Management Group (“RMG ”) dated 23rd September 2008 which reveals that the boat’s keel fin does not comply with Rule 2.14.4(g). The OA supports the proposed compensating arrangement detailed in the RMG Report and accepts that Appendix 5 should remain confidential.
At the time of this Application E3 has not yet completed measurement and the OA has not been informed whether E3 is compliant in all other areas. However we consider it prudent to lodge the Application now in view of the short time remaining before racing.
If the Jury follows its usual custom of seeking comments from other teams this needs to be done in a manner to allow the Teams time to properly consider their submissions and for the Jury to render its decision in a timely manner before the In Port Race on 4th October.
There is also currently considerable conjecture and concern amongst other teams about what the situation is in relation to the E3 keel.
