For some time I’ve been looking for a way to measure forestay tension. Both to collect data for analysis but also to get a clear visual reference for both trimmers and helm. Today we have references on the hydraulic cylinder and have to turn around to figure out if we’re on 5 or 8.
I’ve had a shear pin load cell on my to-do-list for years, but it always felt like a small integration project, and never got done. But when Cyclops Marine approached me with the wireless smarttune, it felt way easier. And as seen in the video, it took me less than an hour from opening the box to a number on the mast display:
Disclaimer: I’ve received the smarttune free of charge in return for an honest review. I’m not paid or compensated in any other way. As always I try to call it like it is and be clear with what I like and not.
