OK. Here’s finally a race report. We’ve had some problems with the satellite email – so better late han never.
It’s now Sunday evening, and we’ve taken what we think is a good off-ramp from the Gulfstream to finally point towards the finish. Very bu at TWA60 in 16-20 knots with the 3.5 jib and a reef.
Warm. But very wet on deck, as we constantly crash into waves.
If you’ve been following the race, you know that the start was difficult due to thunderstorms over land and very little wind offshore. Very hard tactically but we thought we did ok.
Then a drag race to the Gulfstream on the fírst night. We choose to stay west in the meander as most of the boats now on top of the leaderrboard.
Not really J/111 comditions; TWA 50-80 in 25-22 knots. So we’ve been going back and forth between all the jibs (mostly J2 and J3.5) and an occational reef in the main. Super uncomfortable with white water on deck and hot and humid down below.
But we seems to be in the top 5, so that helps.
Time to hunt down a JPK 6 nm ahead.
See you in Bermuda.
