Olika approach fill förändring
Det är ju mycket politik när det skall väljas OS-klasser, men det är ändå intressant att notera skillnaden mellan Norge, där brädseglarna med Stig Hvide Smith i spetsen har dragit igång en stor debatt och undrar varför det skall seglas kite, och Nya Zealand på andra sidan jordklotet där man är lite mer opportunistiska:
As you are mostly all aware the Kiteboard has been given the vote to be included in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. This is a decision that has come as a bit of a surprise and we need to get organised in NZ as soon as possible.
Whilst this decision has presented a few challenges it also provides a great opportunity to organise racing across New Zealand from a grass roots level through to Olympic campaigners.
YNZ is committed to help lead this transition and ensure we get kiteboard racing off the ground in the best way possible. We would like to consult with the kiting community that is interested in racing and start making some headway.
Whether you are a kiteboarder (or a wannabe), windsurfer, retailer, coach or parent it would be valuable to have your input if you see yourself being involved in the development of the sport of Kiteboard racing in NZ.
Tittar man historiskt så är det väl inte så konstigt att klasser byts. Jämför med 1972, som var ett bra OS för Sverige, så har ju den långsiktiga trenden varit ganska tydlig.
Jag förstår att de klasser som åker ut är sura. Men samtidigt så vet man att det här är spelreglerna när det gäller OS. Inget nytt under solen.
