Sweet… Next 37 (och Next 45)

Maurizio Cossutti är ju killen man går till om man vill ha en “killer” i ORCi. Hans NM38 (Scugnizza & Sugar 2) har ju dominerat både EM och VM de senaste åren. I mitt tycke har detta varit en ganska konstig båt; långsam för sin storlek, låg stabilitet och en konstig mix av bullig cruiser med fatheadstor. Och snacket har ju varit att man inte kan vinna lilla klassen med en sportigare båt.

Nu har man dock valt en annan inriktning med Next 37. Det ser ut som en riktigt sweet båt, även om en del attribut (segelyta & köldjup) pekar på att man har slöat ner den för att bli snabbast i lilla klassen. Smart, men kanske inte så kul i alla lägen. Preliminärt GPH på 602 känns svårt att nå med en en racig 37-fotare – det är i stort sett det vi hade på vår J/109.

Tar man Bolt 37 som jämförelse, så är den 8-10% snabbare än Next 37.

Första båten går till finska Audi Sailing Team och Jani Lehti som tidigare leveraret bra resultat i en GS42R. Båten sjösätts i mitten av april i Italien, och det skall bli spännande att se om man hinner få fart på den till VM i Kiel då man böter bästa möjliga motstånd.

Project COSSUTTI YACHT DESIGN

Next 37 was created to continue the winning streak in racing at the highest level of our previous projects. Is a boat, dedicated to competition and as such no compromises in terms of design. The water lines are the result of the most recent studies, as well as the appendices. The vacuum sandwich construction guarantees lightness and stiffness required to complete a top project. Carbon mast and optimal deck layout allows maximum exploitation of its potential. The internal arrangements are reduced to the minimum essential for optimal weight distribution. Next 37 is certified according to ISO CE rules (cat. A/unlimited navigation).

Hull and Deck construction
The hull and the deck are in sandwich of unidirectional and biaxial glass fibers with vynilester resin on female moulds (optional basalt fibers and epoxy resin). The reinforcements of the hull bottom (“structural cage”) are made of glass and carbon, while the central structure in steel supports loads of keel and mast base.

The composite bulkheads are laminated tu hull and glued to the deck in order to keep light the boat ends and thus make more comfortable the wave passing.

Hull and deck painting
Hull finishing is white gelcoat (polyurethane cycle with pastel tint in basalt-epoxy construction). The walking areas of deck and cockpit are sprayed with antiskid finishing.

Keel
The keel and the bulbo are monolithic lead casting with antimony (3%). A steel internal structure
connects the keel to hull and via trough AISI 316 bolts to structural steel structure. After casting the keel is milled numerical control (CNC) to ensure perfect compliance to the project.

Rudder and rudder system
• Designed to give maximum maneuverability and control, the rudder and its axis are carbon built on a female mold and are mounted on self-aligning bearings.
• Tiller steering Cockpit
• The large, ergonomic cockpit without benches allows maximum ease of movement in the crew maneuver; the liferaft locker is in a central position accessible from the cockpit bottom.

Engine
• The boat is equipped with a 20 hp inboard diesel engine with saildrive transmission and folding propeller type “racing”. The engine compartment is easily accessible for inspection.
• Tank made of rigid PVC capacity 70 liters.

Plants
• Essential plants in accordance with the rating rules.
• 12V electrical system with 1 engine battery and two services batteries; led internal lights for day and night navigation
• Battery charger and dock socket 230V
• Water system, with 70 liter PVC tank, foot pump for kitchen and bathroom sink
• Marine toilet in the forward sail locker with independent inlet and outlet.
• Manual bilge pump operated from the cockpit and one electric bilge pump.
• All seacocks are flush type Forespar Flowtech Racing or equivalent.

Internals
• Structural composite interiors with two benches with side-opening for stowage
• Basement for sink and 2-burner racing stove Techimpex or equivalent; optional tube-canvas pipe berths
